East Coast Powerdive Servicing.

In my blogs I plan to keep our tens of thousands of Powerdive customers up-to-date with information about keeping their Powerdive units in good condition and repair.

About twenty-five years ago, I started Powerdive and over some years developed the product until it was arguably “the world industry standard” in electric hookah diving systems. Safe, easy to use and very practical. I wanted to make a system that was convenient for boat owners to maintain their hulls, whilst still having a hookah dive compressor on-board for fun diving with friends and family or that occasional emergency time, when a rope gets caught around the propellor and needs dis-lodging or something important or valuable is dropped over the side.

There are approximately twenty thousand Powerdive hookah units in Australia and around the world now. As these units could be up to twenty-five years old, some are desperately in need of a service or full recondition. I attended in May, the Sanctuary Cove Boat show for my first time in about fifteen years, to talk to clients and boat owners about Powerdive hookah diving compressor units servicing and need for regular maintenance (at least every two to three years) of their hookah dive regulators and dive compressor units. As these machines are used and usually stored in, a marine environment, corrosion can be an issue if the equipment is not properly maintained and serviced.

Regular hookah dive system servicing, keeps the machines running in tip-top, as new condition, especially the Powerdive power snorkel, diving floating compressor. This model often presents in our workshop with quite bad corrosion, simply because the dive hookah has ingested salt water in rough conditions and has not been properly “flushed” after use. This means that the salt water can sit inside the dive compressor heads and cause corrosion. The users’ manual describes the proper way to flush the machine to avoid salt damage.  Having said this, regular 12v hookah dive system servicing alleviates this problem and keeps the dive system running well.

Powerdive 12v compressors can also be found online listed as Powerdive deck snorkel for sale or Powerdive power snorkel for sale in the dive compressor for sale Australia category. Please be very careful when buying these second-hand hookah dive units, as they have often not been serviced or properly maintained. We regularly see these hookah dive compressors in our workshop, after an un-suspecting buyer sends it to us for a service and check-over and the unit is badly damaged internally and requires major repairs to bring it back to a useable condition. This makes the “cheap hookah dive system” very expensive.

We buy used hookah dive gear and fully recondition the hookah dive compressor and fittings including the hookah dive regulator. We then offer a full (return to place of purchase) 2 year, parts and labour warranty.  All work is carried out by Steve Gregory, the original developer and manufacturer of Powerdive dive compressors Australia.

To all of our wonderful clients we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Kind regards,

Steve Gregory.
